1. Shift your dates

Sunday night is often the cheapest of the week in tourist cities, and Tuesday/Wednesday in business cities. Shifting by one night can save 20–30%.

2. Aim for the low season

The French Riviera in October, Alsace in January, Normandy in March: same scenery, half the crowds, rates 30–50% lower.
